yoga classes

my classes offer opportunities to strengthen and comfort the body, sharpen the mind, and open the heart. to heal, to revel in ecstasy, to deepen your kinesthetic awareness. i hope to help you become more supple, powerful, and present. classes are taught spontaneously, drawing from my eclectic studies in a wide range of traditions, and vary to suit those present in body, mind, and moment. we generally practice to music. these classes are open to practitioners of any level of experience, including new beginners.

Mondays, from 10-11:30am
Gentle Chair Yoga at UCSF's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine

1701 Divisadero Street at Sutter.

$15 per class.

Mats and props are provided.

We will use gentle seated and, if appropriate for you, standing poses to increase comfort, strength, and flexibility. Deep relaxation, breathing, and meditation will help to build the skill of relaxation and relieve stress. Chair yoga is appropriate for those who cannot comfortably practice on the floor, or anyone who prefers a very gentle practice.

all levels atha yoga at the James Howell Studio

66 Sanchez Street, between 14th and Duboce in San Francisco. MUNI stops at Church Street, one and a half blocks away.
by donation; $14 suggested. all mats and props are provided.

A community favorite since 1999, this all levels class has rave reviews on yelp.com. Our practice ranges from hatha to hatha flow; this is a class for the able-bodied person interested in a challenge. The studio is a hidden gem, a long bare-brick room where eight huge skylights bring summer sunlight or the sound of winter rain.

We aim to build a strong foundation for newcomers and to deepen the awareness and skill of the experienced practitioner. Anyone interested in deeper well-being, including those new to yoga or facing health challenges, is welcome. Level of practice is sweet and gentle.

A nice brisk early-evening class. There are numerous delicious dinner options within a couple blocks. the Liberty Cafe is a particular favorite, with outstanding local, seasonal, and organic foods. Their wine bar often has fine music, too!

Mats and props are provided. If your immune system wants extra care, please either bring your own mat or a towel to place on the studio mats.

This class combines group support, gentle yoga postures, breathing practices, guided imagery, and yoga philosophy to relieve stress and encourage healing of the body, mind, and heart. California Pacific Medical Center's Institute for Health and Healing has a beautiful yoga studio! High ceilings, a wall of windows that looks out into the Healing Garden, a stunning mural. a lovely environment for practice. This class is sweet, gentle, calming, mostly floor-based; a little unwinding boost to send you toward the weekend.

Early Morning & Morning Series
at Home

It is traditional to practice in the morning upon rising to set the tone for the day. This small group class is limited to five students who commit for a 5 week series. The intention is for a physically and spiritually challenging practice with generous individual attention, massage, and reiki.
