rising '10: A Raw Yogic Healing Arts Retreat
April 2-4, 2010 at Harbin Hot Springs

Spring is an auspicious time for beginnings, the return of light and blossom. Come! Shake off the cloak of winter in a forested retreat. Breathe, move, soak, hike, think. Be nourished. Unfold your wings and prepare your body and spirit to rise into spring.

rising convenes April 2-4. For this, the ninth annual rising retreat, we will return to the grounds of Harbin Hot Springs. Our classes will meet in the Meadow Building and we will have full access to Harbin's hot pool, warm pools, cold plunge, sauna, hiking trails, and more.

The retreat cost includes all classes, meals, indoor/outdoor camping, and Harbin access. If you have questions about the retreat in general or health concerns in regard to yoga, feel free to email Kristie, or call 415 863 1821. The cost of the retreat is $325 before March 1, $355 after. As of 2/24 there is still space available.

Your registration for the retreat takes place with the payment of your nonrefundable $175 deposit. You can do this in person at any class, online through PayPal, or by mail, sending your check to:

Kristie Dahlia Home
254 Hartford Street
San Francisco, California 94114

Balance of cost will be due upon arrival at the retreat. If you prefer to pay by credit card, you may do so via PayPal.

Yoga

Our practice will offer openhearted exploration of body, mind, and spirit with a wide variety of yogic healing arts, including asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing practices), self-massage, and energy work. As a special delight, you will be led through giving and will receive a 1.5 hour session of thai yoga massage! Meditations might range from the blindfolded full-body shake and rattle of an extended kundalini meditation to sitting in silence, mantra japa, and walking meditation. Chanting will be included, and you may listen or join in as your comfort calls for. As always, attendance at the retreat will be limited to ensure personal attention to all participants. classes will be taught by Kristie Dahlia Home, with the assistance of Kate Truka, RYT and Kara Zahl, CMT. Kara and Kate have been working with Kristie now for several years and the combination is a synergistic wonder.

Body and Energy Work

Because the attention of a skillful healer can lead the body and mind into blossom, all retreat participants will receive body and energy work. All three of our staff members are Reiki (a form of energy work) practitioners, and Kristie and Kara are both bodyworkers as well. Kara's primary role during the retreat is to move throughout the room during every class, offering body and energy work. Kara blends Swedish and Deep Tissue massage with Reiki and intuitive touch to create a safe container for people to be held in a state of presence. Kara's work is both nurturing and therapeutic.

Nourishment

Our food will be pure and delightful: raw, organic, vegan. If you have yet to explore the joys of skillfully prepared raw foods, this will be a treat! Raw foods are abundant in flavor and nutrition, leaving the body light, clear, and energized. We will once again be fed by the wise hands of Lydia's Organics.

Play

You'll have free time in the evenings after class and Saturday and Sunday afternoons to explore Harbin's glorious waters and grounds.

Timing

The Meadow Building will open on Friday at 5p. The first session will begin at 6p. The final session will end on Sunday at noon, with brunch to follow. Traffic on Friday is busy; it is best to leave San Francisco by 2p. If you can, take the day off, arrive early, and relax in the pools! Yes, you can still attend if you have to work a full day on Friday; late arrivals are OK, but we've noticed that folks who miss the first Friday class the first time they attend always take the day off and come early the next time.

Accomodations

There are two primary sets of options for accommodations:

Camping at Harbin is included in the cost of the retreat. For solitude and communion with nature you can pitch a tent on the platforms that snake through the forest and along the stream. For delightful simplicity and quickest access to the waters, you can unfurl a sleeping bag under the stars on the redwood decks by the pools. if you prefer to sleep indoors, you can join the slumber party in our practice room in the Meadow Building.

Rooms and Cottages can be arranged with Harbin directly for an additional cost. These vary from beautiful cottages with their own fireplaces to sweet hotel-type rooms or a bed in the communal dormitory. Information about Harbin's rooming options and rates is available on their website. If you plan to book a cottage or a room, it is wise to do so early.
